Fragrant Jerky is an authentic Singapore-style, fire-grilled pork jerky (Bak Kwa) specialty shop based in the United States. Since 2012, Fragrant Jerky has been crafting products fresh daily—each piece flame-grilled to perfection by hand—then sold on-site and shipped to customers around the US.

Our jerky is made to order, never pre-packaged or left to sit in a warehouse for weeks or months. All Fragrant Jerky products are prepared in our licensed commercial facilities in Los Angeles and are regularly inspected by the USDA-FSIS.

The art of making Bak Kwa (Hokkien: 肉干), typically a skill passed down through generations, is considered a dying craft. Originating from Southern China, Bak Kwa is made using traditional Chinese meat preservation and preparation techniques, incorporating oriental spices to create a mouth-watering and highly addictive snack.

In countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan, Bak Kwa has become a beloved gourmet gift, especially popular during festive holidays.

During Chinese New Year, it's common to see long lines forming hours before shops open, as customers eagerly wait to purchase the freshest and limited supply of Bak Kwa.

Today, there are no fewer than a thousand Bak Kwa shops throughout major shopping malls and tourist areas in these countries.

At Fragrant Jerky, we continue the tradition of handcrafting Bak Kwa the old-fashioned way—just as it was done generations ago.

Fragrant Jerky’s owner is a third-generation Bak Kwa maker. He began working in the family business at age thirteen, helping his grandmother prepare jerky in the shop. Today, Mr. Yap personally selects the freshest meats and ingredients, supervises production, and oversees the final grilling process to ensure every bite delivers the finest Bak Kwa experience.
