About Us
Fragrant Jerky’s owner is a third-generation artisan of authentic Singapore-style fire-grilled jerky, locally known in Singapore as Bak Kwa. His journey began at the age of fifteen, helping his grandmother prepare Bak Kwa in the family shop - a craft passed down through generations.
In 2012, Mr. Yap ventured to the United States and opened the first Fragrant Jerky branch in Rosemead, California, just east of Los Angeles. By 2018, he expanded with a second retail location in Rowland Heights, California (in the San Gabriel Valley), serving customers from both Orange County and the Inland Empire.
Today, he remains deeply involved in the business - personally sourcing the finest meats and ingredients, supervising the preparation process, and overseeing the final grilling to ensure every bite delivers the authentic Bak Kwa experience customers have come to love.
