About Us

Fragrant Jerky’s owner is a third-generation maker of fire-grilled jerky, locally in Singapore known as Bak Kwa. He began working in the family business at the age of thirteen, helping his grandmother prepare jerky in the shops.

In 2012, Mr. Yap ventured into the U.S. and opened his first branch in Rosemead, California. By 2018, he expanded with a second location in Rowland Heights, serving customers from both Orange County and the Inland Empire.

Today, Mr. Yap remains deeply involved in the business, personally selecting the freshest meats and ingredients, supervising production, and overseeing the final grilling process to ensure every bite offers the finest Bak Kwa experience.
